My memory eludes me now-but I can’t recall if it was a coach or a teacher but the words they
spoke and later wrote down relating to hard work beating talent stuck with me to this day.
In fact the following 10 things require absolutely no talent at all, but can make a massive difference when applied!

One of the most challenging issues for both the head coach and strength and conditioning coach is how to plan and periodise training during the actual competition season. Because it’s impossible for teams to peak year round.
How much work can athletes tolerate before they get injured, overtrain or match day competition performance suffers?
How little training can athletes perform to enhance their performance during the season?
Sometimes I’m lucky, Generally, when athletes utilize my services they are more reactive than pro-active. What I mean is that they usually seek out my services when they need them…they have been suffering an injury and have failed to successfully rehabilitate it…they have may have been cut from the rep team….they may have been delisted from their sporting club..or they simply may not be performing at the levels they should-or know they can…

One of the great things about being a strength and conditioning specialist in the Sports performance Enhancement industry is meeting like minded individuals! Following on from Sam Michaels invitation to train with Essendon as a top up player I was fortunate enough to catch up with Essendon S and C Coach Paul Turk to talk shop. The Essendon coaching staff were extremely impressed with Sams physical condition given the fact he had not undertaken pre-season training with an AFL club and had sought out our services at USP to physically prepare him for the football year to come.
It's official USP Athlete Sam Michael has just signed a contract with Essendon as their final top up player!! When young athletes are overlooked for selection on teams, the best advice you can give them is to play so well they can't ignore you! Observe many of the youth and adults in society and you’ll see many varied and interesting postures. As a result of occupation/poor ergonomics (sitting down), program design and exercise selection (anterior dominant bench and biceps curls and squats), life style (lack of movement, video games, computer work etc), developmental disfunction present during childhood-optimal posture is rare (1).
Having coached thousands of athletes over the past 16 years, a common challenge is dealing with acne and pimples especially through their teenage years! Not only can it be painful and leave scars for a lifetime, it can wreak havoc on an athletes confidence and self esteem. I was fortunate enough to study with one of the worlds leading functional medicine experts Sam Queen who was kind enough to share some amazing tips that worked tremendously well every single time without the use of prescription medications.
I was listening to a colleague of mine Chucky Poliquin who has trained Olympic Gold medallists in 18 sports. He was discussing the concept of personality profiling to figure out what specific training athletes respond best to. This is revolutionary as previously it would take an elite coach 4-6 weeks to figure out what works best!! Using these concepts and results from personality profiles allows you as a coach to individualise a program immediately for accelerated results.
I actually cheated my way to success and Im going to let you guys know how you can do the same…
Success Leaves Clues….

All of my most successful clients..ranging from world class athletes to Multi-millionaire business owners all had one thing in common…
They all had a coach……
They all had a mentor….
One of the athlete expectations we place upon our athletes is critical thought with respect to who they hang out with. Reason being is that psychologists concluded that the results and success you have in your life are directly attributed to who you spend the most time with.
