PIT Athlete Bryce Retzlaff Drafted to The Brisbane Lions

Thursday, November 26th 2009

For the second year in a row THE PIT produces another Drafted AFL Footballer….

From out of nowhere PIT Athlete, Bryce Retzlaff has been one of only two Queensland AFL footballers to be drafted.

He was picked up by the Brisbane Lions at pick number 84 in the 2009 draft.

His selection stunned most people, but really shouldn’t have.

Collingwood player Dayne Beams, told Bryce about THE PIT and said if you’re serious about your football and you want to be the best you can be, see Joey.

Bryce Retzlaff

In my time working with Bryce his work ethic, willingness to push through pain and commitment to achieve his goals could never be questioned. (more…)

Feb 2009 Ian Mellor Brisbane Lions Tackling and Wrestling Coach

Saturday, February 28th 2009

Coaches and parents have often commented on the fact athletes training at THE PIT are physically superior but also know how to use their physical abilities to their advantage. I had the opportunity to have the expertise of Brisbane Lions Tackling and Wrestling coach take PIT athletes through specialized tackling wrestling and body contact drills. The techniques worked that well, the following day one our athletes the attended the tackling clinic put another footballer in hospital. Our thoughts are with the footballer and his family.

December 2008 In Joe We Trust Strength Training Equipment-Innovative, creative, performance enhancing only available from In Joe We Trust!!!!!!

Sunday, December 28th 2008

As always, I’m experimenting with new equipment to make athletes under my guidance better. I came across a few ideas from Russia, Germany and the USA and have begun production of some ground breaking new pieces of training equipment that are a must have addition to any gymnasium that requires elite sports performance.  Due to shipping costs it was not practical to import or purchase the heavy duty equipment. Thus, I have sourced a company willing and able to make the equipment that any high performance gymnasium requires. Sleds, Farmers Walk apparatus, Prowler or the Australian version known as the Heart Breaker, stealth Foam Rollers, Super Grippers for finger strength and Cyclone Device have been key pieces of equipment in the development of superior athletes. Go to the Products section to purchase now. There’ll be a video showcasing these phenomenal pieces of equipment in action and an article detailing the benefits of the equipment.

The POWER of the Coach:

Sally McLellan

Sharon and Peter Hannan, are the hardest working coaches in Australian Track and Field.

Their combined 60+ yrs of Track and Field coaching work has finally been rewarded in Beijing, with their sprinter Sally McLellan becoming the first Australian to make an Olympic Sprint hurdles final since Glynis Nunn-Cearns in 1984.

The amount of time, effort, blood, sweat and tears they have put into their coaching is a lesson that is forever etched in my mind!

It is great to see passionate people with life long dreams being rewarded and serves as motivation for athletes and their coaches!

Sharon and Peter Hannon coached/guided me as an athlete to the National Track and Field titles many years ago, and remain great mentors and have been instrumental in developing my philosophies regarding sprinting speed and running technique development for my athletes training with In Joe We Trust.

Their Speed and Sprint Training techniques appear to be working!

Sep 2008 Ken Wallace-Gold in K1 at Olympics

Monday, September 29th 2008

kenny

Out of nowhere, Kenny Wallace claimed a Gold and Silver medal in the K1 at the Olympics and was also awarded the OAM on Australia Day.

He’s also been doing the PR circuit, his knock about laid back unaffected nature has made him a favorite on the footy show.

Ken was one of the first blokes I met at high school, his discipline and commitment was evident back then when he was training multiple times per day when he was in year 8.

His strength and conditioning coach from the Australian Institute of Sport, Glen Workman was one of my mentors when I first started out in the industry.

Its great to see them both achieve their goals of Gold in Beijing!

Haydyn Stoeckel

Congratulations to Haydyn Stoeckel winning a Bronze Medal at The Olympics in the Mens 100m backstroke.

I had the pleasure of coaching Haydyn at The PIT in early 2007.

He is a great kid with a phenomenal work ethic and a great example of perseverance!

The exciting thing is he is only going to get Bigger, Faster and Stronger!

His parents, Chris and Carols’ unwavering belief and support for Haydyn, was most definitely a cornerstone was his success!
